Review of 'Hide and Seek' opening sequence

'Hide and seek' is a Thriller set in an empty building. The main character is a girl called Maddy who has been attacked and abused by a stranger which she cannot remember.

While being interviewed in the police station however, she starts to get flashbacks, and eventually remembers that the person who attacked her is the police officer interviewing her.

Sound:

Throughout the sequence there is creepy music played, like a little childs music box.

Lighting:

Where the interview is taking place is extremely dark with just enough lightsource to show the police officer.

Mise en scene: The only props used were during the interview, with the desk and the recorder

Editing: There is fading text used during transitions

Shots: Tracking, pans, close-ups and long shots were all used for different reasons and to connote different things.

The opening sequence addresses our target audience in different ways. At the start of the film there is a black background and words to describe emotion even though a character hjas not yet been introduced.
We catch audience attention by keeping Maddys face hidden during the interview although we show it during flashbacks, this could mean that something happend to maddy when she was caught, but the audience dont get to see the outcome.
The music box effect at the start of the film grabs the audiences attention with its mysterious, creepy sound.
